My daughter who is 32 weeks pregnant is in hospital today to have an abscess removed from her groin. The surgeon doesn't think they'll be able to remove it under local anaesthetic as its the size of a golf ball and quite deep. If she has a general anaesthetic will the baby be affected too? I suppose they will monitor the baby whilst the operation is in progress??? but can't help worrying about them both.

babies do get affected by generals but if you think about it they perform many c-sections under general.

Theywouldnt offer to do the op if they thought the risks were too hight Im sure, and they will no doubt have many people on shift to keep a very close eye on your daughter and baby.

Hope all goes well.

Thanks redcrx.
My daughter just phoned and they did it under local anaesthetic so panic over! lol.She is on her way home now and said it really hurts to walk.I am glad she didn't have the general as it means she didn't have to stay in overnight.I had thought about the c-section thing but obviously the baby is out then so they can monitor it more closely then.I'm just a worrier I suppose.lol.
worrying about children never ends does it lol

glad alls ok, I hope your daughter feels better soon.
