Downloading to Microsoft Money

When I try to download my bank statement from my online website into Microsoft Money 2005 using either the QIF or OFX formats it downloads in an ineligible text format into Notepad. Any advice as to how to get the file to download correctly would be appreciated. The computer operating system is Windows Vista Home Premium.
