Bernie Ecclestone`s 1955 Mercedes 300SL is up for auction soon, although at an expected 300,000 I shall not be bidding unless I get a big tickle on Lottery. It is on view at Battersea Power Station and at 50. entrance, I am hoping for a little tickle to see it.

However, I have been warned that my car, which is forty years younger, will have trouble passing next MOT because of emissions. Would this 300SL have any problem or is it easy although very expensive.

Any car from before 1973 does not need an emissions test for it's MOT, or seat belts, indicators, fog lights etc etc

...and free road tax!

Maybe thats why he bought it in the first place!

Very interesting, I knew about seat belts and indicators and free road tax. However, emissions rules are a complete mystery to me although I would have realised there was some provision for the vintage and veteran cars.
