Trawling through the dial today, I found that Radio one had paired these two as part of it's forty-year celebrations.

Given that bother found themselves personna non grata in prime time radio, isn't it time for them to act with the dignity of their ages, and try not pretending to be oh-so-rude 'laddettes'? I managed about one minute before I had to change the station.

Surely the BBC must realise that people of their audience demographic want to hear genuinely enthusiastic presenters who know of what they speak, not a couple of late-thirties mums who have somehow sneaked into the studio and are pretending to re-live their tedious youth all over again, and inflict it on a bored and unimpressed audience.

What next - the Hairy Cornflake?

Oh andy,
That will teach you not to change stations again for a long time. You should have stuck with Radio 2 !! lol

You're right - I was confused there for a while ....
I couldn't have put it better myself Andy
I grew up listening to DLT, Noel Edmunds, Tommy Vance etc, I started going off Radio One when they changed the format in the early 90's, and introduced talentless buffoons such as Chris Moyles. I stopped listening completly when Sarah Cox was complimenting herself on how smelly her trumps were.
Cox and Ball in my opinion were appalling trying to be ladettes and failing miserably.

Could Vernon Kay be shot as well?

dont mind zoe ball but bl00dy sara cox does my head in.... as if anyone wants to hear all about her life all the time!
I cannot stand either of them, they annoy me beyond belief, as do most of the 'young' ones who appear on Saturday mornings. I now listen to local radio, music isn't quite so hip and there are only so many times you can hear how busy the A66 is without wanting to top yourself but for a real treat listen to the Cumberland Sausage show on CFM on Saturday morning. the whole idea is to guess where they have hidden a sausage from very simple clues, truely priceless radio.
Oh really, stop whinging and take them for what they are... a bit of fun. As a 35 year old woman myself, I found them genuine and very amusing. So what if they are giggly and a bit sporadic in their banter... they dont take themselves too seriously. Hence why they were good fun and it was a very enjoyabel show.

I never understand people like the you and the others who've left derogatory comments on here. You moan about 'these awful presenters' on Radio 1 but yet you still tune in. there's a really simple solution and it involves a bit of technology.... if you don't like them, press the button that retunes your radio and go back to your own personal tastes whatever they may be (Magic FM)... each to their own!
That's exactly what I did flora1972
now I've grown up I listen to either Radio2 of Radio4, depends on what programme is being broadcast at the time
Cant beat the archers at 2pm followed by the afternoon play

Flora 1972 - if you re-read my observation, you will see that I did re-tune after about a minute.

I listen to Chris Moyles every morning, I think he is a supremely talented presenter, but I cannot stand amateurism passing itself off as edgy cool radio. Moyles may be a little abusive at times, but his links and timing are absolutely perfect, he has an inbuilt sense of flow and pace that works very well - hence his massive listgening figures.

Ms. Ball and Ms. Cox are simply drippy, with nothing interesting to say, and dreary accents and sloppy delivery to put it over with.

As you say, I don't listen, but I am entitled to express an opinion - which I did.
As I said, each to their own. Personally, I like Sarah Cox's down to earth humour. Admittedly she annoyed me when she first graced the airwaves but now I find her chatter warm and funny. Her humour and style of presenting is just like a mate talking to you about random stuff and OK, her listening figures may not be of Chris Moyles standards but she still has a fairly loyal following. Pairing her with her pal Zoe Ball was just a nod to old times and whether or not their links were all over the place or not, I used to listen to them both in my student years and it was nice to hear them talk about a time I remember fondly. They clearly aren't 'ladettes' anymore if you'd heard the whole show, they laughed about their 'ladette' antics with some embarassment!

Oh... and I like Chris Moyles too but they both make me laugh in completely different ways.

One person I don't find particularly funny is Scott Mills (chappers etc) who takes a seed of something initially funny and bleeds it slowly to death until you're sick of it. It's shows like his that seem completely childish and grating more so than Sarah Cox. How he's just won an award for funniest DJ is beyond me. But again, each to their own... if I don't like what I hear I swicth off or channel surf too.

With you on Scott Mills - he reminds me of people like David Coleman (ask your parents!) - anything that he seems to regard as important is something you are going to forget five seconds after he's finished talking about it.

That's a skill in itself I suppose - I work with a woman who has the same effect on me.
I couldn't agree more, I'm impressed you lasted a minute!
