phil - I'm not an expert gardener, but I seem to remember a gardening programme where a person cut a square of turf from a less noticable place and switched it. Also try covering the area the dog is soilng temporarily with some clear breathable mesh pegged down.

that sounds lie a gud idea neva thaught of that thanks very much for ur advice
The urine from a bitch usually does more harm from that of a dog but both can cause serious damage to lawns.
The best way to combat this is to go for damage limitation and try to reduce the yellowing patches that can die off completely if not attended to promptly.
Water the affected areas with plenty of water to dilute the amonia this will have a much better affect if you can do this staight away.

Patches that have already died, may as well be dug out and reseeded or returfed. Good Luck. Tbird+
If the lawn is under 6 months old as mine is it should be fed with a low nitrogen feed but high in potash to strenghten it.
Mine has gonet the same way but asked a friendly gardener who knows his stuff. Dont go treating the weeds until next April and then give it a good feed with Weed & Feed.
don't laugh but there are some mineral rocks that you can put in the dg's waterbowl to change the ph of the we and stop the burning. Link here

I wouldn't do anything too drastic at present. You may well find that by next spring, the brown patches will show more luxuriant growth than the rest of the lawn! The urine if diluted as Thunderbird suggested can act as a fertiliser.
Hi Phi
l spent a year at college studying sports turf and your problem was not mentioned, as sports turf is well managed and dogs generally do not get to pee on a sports area and if they do, its a "one off".
The way to combat dog pee scorch on a lawn is to manage the dog!!
By that I mean watch and therefore learn, when and where SHE is going to pee!! Dogs (MALE DOGS) dont pee on lawns unless they have nowhere else to pee!!
So Please have a bucket of water(or maybe a few) at the lawns edge and when the Bitch pees on the lawn then slowly pour the bucket of water on the place where she's peeeeed!!
It's as simple as that. The water neutralises the acid and't grass lives.
If you want a dog and you want a lawn and the dog's a bitch there is no alternative.
