I've noticed that english law is corectly stringent on alcohol consumption and we like to know how many units of alcohol is in the drink we are drinking. fair enough. but as most wine (i can't speek of beer or others as I mainly drink wine) contains so much sulphite in it that people that are sensitive to it like me are more affected by the sulphites (used to preserve the wine) than the actual alcohol. for example I can drink 3 glasses of non sulphite 13.5 % wine and feel ok but 1/2 a glass of a wine with suphate in it would well I certainly being a responsable peraon not even consider driving. does the goverment and idiots that make laws consider this ? that wihile being under the limit of alcohol one can be just as affected and possibly not know it ? why aren't there laws about how much sulphate can go in a wine. this is not only an issue of not everybody is capable of driving after 1/2 glass but I am fed up with being knocked out by 1/2 a glass of wine and never finding any information about how much sulphate is in it just says on the bottle "contains sulphates" but this can be on a bottle that has little enough to allow me to drink 3 glasses of 13.5 % wine and not be floored but also one a bottle that although only has 7.5 % alcohol has me knocked out after a 1/2 glass. not to mention the fact that sulphates are not good for anyoone being known to attack the nervous system and in the cases of some make them feel very unwell, pewrhaps its about time we get booked (and the wine companies too) for "sulphated in charge of a car"
sorry to rant but I just come back from a place where you can get good sulphate free wine for 50p a litre to find here that crap is sold at 3 for 3/4 a litre and into the bargin it makes me ill !

Don't know what to say really. But you've put forward a good case which on which I hope other ABers will comment.

The trouble is that we are being deprived of full information on anything we buy.........Ron.
another reason why i wont drive if ive had any drink. Some affects me a lot worse than others.

Personally i wouldnt be bothered if the legal limit was reduced to zero.
