If Jesus existed I think it is widely accepted that he was born in some region of north africa. So how come in any depiction of him he looks like one of the Bee Gees?

Well, I've Gotta Get a Message to You, annavc. Different societies have depicted Jesus (other biblical figures) as their own ethnicity in their art; for example he is primarily white in the West, and black in Africa. I hear beards were trendy in around 30AD, so the BG�s were a bit behind the times.

The image used for him today is based on a prince from sometime around the 14th century. I'd say others could give more specific info.
