Can you get motors in domestic shredders repaired/replaced if they have burnt out or do you have to replace the whole piece of equipment.? If it can be repaired, how much would it cost and who would be the best type of person / organisation to approach?

I would guess it is easier and cheaper to just buy a new one.

If its a big UK brand like B&D you may be able to source the part through their spares network for a DIY repair. If you don't fancy DIY it is unfortunately going to be cheaper to scrap it and buy a beefier one next time.
