We are going Christmas shopping in Manchester next weekend, going to a gig at the academy and stopping over at the City Hotel. Could anyone recommend anyway to eat either near Piccadilly or the Academy.

Hi tickle - Try Jennys situated under the Brittania hotel, 5.00 for a 3 course meal! Melon or soup of the day for starters, serve yourself carvery ( someone will carve you your choice of meat ) then you just help yourself to yorkshire pudding/ roast and steamed potatoes veg ect... Then you can choose between a choice of sweet ( again, serve yourself )
Your starter is brought to your table. Lovely inside by the way!
5.00 - Mon - Sat - 12.00 - 2.00pm
8.75 ----------- - 6.00 - 9.00pm

Pub grub / music - Waldorf - London road - opp. the Brunswick pub ( down side street )
reasonably priced pub grub with good music, couple of minutes walk from Piccadilly

The Bank - Moseley street - Nice interior, historical, not too pricey really. Interesting inside! Nice food.

tickle - Forgot the Oxford pub - further up from the Acadamy.
Studenty . Again , nice food reasonably priced. Also try the Brunswick on London road just off Piccadilly, traditional English food.
tickle - You have got to try the Atheneum bar! Use to be an old bank? Massive inside, huge marble pillars, was eating there today in fact! Very interesting interior, has a pool table, nice food, not expensive. How to get to it, it's off Market street on York street, ask someone, it's well known, just go and be amazed!

Thx for all the suggestions skyep, we do go to Manchester fairly often but usually stick to the Deansgate area or San Rocco of King Street so will be nice to try somewhere different
tickle - Don't forget to come back and tell me what you got up to!
Oooh yes the Atheneum is nice, lovely food :)
Can I just ask as well, are you named after the Tickled Trout hotel by any chance? :)
