Following on from the mention of Krispy Kremes, what is your favourite one?

If you are ever in London, well worth a visit.

I think I have tried them all (not in one sitting) and if I could only have one flavour ever again, I would opt for the blueberry filled one!!!.

I'm a Krispy Kreme addict. I participated, thanks to an invitation from...er...him...to the opening of the first Krispy Kreme in Harrods.

Without a doubt, the cream filled, chocolate glazed. Thankfully I can now pick them up at Heathrow as well as at Kennedy on the way back!

But before you have any variety, you MUST have the hot ones coming off the conveyor belts.

At their largest store, on Ponce De Leon Avenue, in Atlanta, KK roll off in excess of 250 donuts a minute. They follow an amazing labrynth of conveyors, up to the ceiling, down around the back of the bakery and then through a perpetual shower of warm glazed sugar. It's open 24 hours a day and if you can endure the most 'interesting' people who materialise there around 3 in the morning, you're always assured of having a hot one! (Doughnut that is!)

I really do not like krispy kremes at all! They are so saccharine sweet and processed, they actually make me feel quite ill. I think of the population, I'm one of the only people that feel this way!
I've never even heard of them! :-(
I don't like the ones with sprinklies on them.
But my faves are the chocolate topped ones.
Yum!
unrulyjulie - they're an american firm - a chain - that do donuts, not the kind you get in a local bakers but quite processed (sorry all!) and you get all different sorts. You can buy them single or choose a selection and get them boxed.
I dont eat doughnuts :S

if I did I wouldnt stop.....
Thanks Beads! :-)

I like my donuts hot and covered in suger. Can't beat the ones you buy at the fair! yummy!

I dont think id like these. Im a fan of macdonalds but only ever tasted one donut in there! YUK! These look similar.
To clarify the 'processed' thought. In fact, Krispy Kreme had an advantage over the old Dunkin Donut company..long gone..thankfully...Dunkin Donuts had preservatives in them. The differnce in the process is that Krispy Kreme use a yeast based donut, where DD's were a cake style. From their origins in North Carolina, it has become the global leader in donuts. Beads is right. they are sweet. That recipe is commensurate with the palate of the americans and has been imported here. But interestingly, it's catching on.

The magic to remember with Krispy Kreme is that when the 'red light' is on, the donuts are coming hot out of the frier!

The histroy of Krispy Kreme is in their working with churches, selling the donuts at a discount to the church groups so they could go out and sell them, making a profit for church activities...a bit like a sweetie-based Amway :-)

I have never had a Krispy Kreme donut!
Mind you, like cazzz , I wouldn't know when to stop if I started eating them
I've never had one either. Do they taste like dunkin donuts?
Polianna..no not at all. Their dough is yeast based, so they tend to be light and airy (at least until you fill them with cream). DD's were always rather heavy...and the next day you could use one as a door stop!

Fr Bill
I had my very first one at Stanstead airport about 3 weeks ago, chocolate topped ...yum Its a good job its a 45 min drive away or i would definitely become an addict lol
Mmmm, Original Glazed for me, please... :o)
