quiz-setters and quiz-doers - a suggestion

I have an idea about the problem of sending money for quizzes and the fact that it sometimes goes missing prior to arrival.

Use Tesco gift cards. They are the size of a credit card and can be wrapped in the return envelope to disguise them; they can be 'charged' with a minimum of 1; they come with a cardboard folder on which a message can be written and this also adds another layer of disguise; they are light in weight so do not add to the postage costs; they are free of any extra charge to both sender and receiver, unlike postal orders or some cheques; they can be spent easily, unlike stamps; they have nice pictures on them (OK, getting silly now). As most people live near a Tesco they are easy to buy and exchange. The quizsetter can use them to pay for their shopping and put in to the quiz fund the corresponding amount in cash (or note the amount for the final cheque to the charity).

An idea for those quizsetters who do, or are willing to, shop at Tesco. Not so good when the cheques are going direct to the charity as the charity would find it difficult to exchange them. But still better than sending coins.

When advertising a quiz it could be stated 'Tesco cards accepted' or 'do not send Tesco cards'.

I would be interested to hear any thoughts you may have on this idea as I am sure that I have missed lots of pros and cons.

I am happy to trial the idea on my next (not long to go now) Cinnamon Trust quiz

Sorry so late, had to go to work.

Aquagility, don't know the answer to that as I haven't researched it that far. May well look into it if I get more answers and they show enthusiasm for the principle of the idea.

Diane 1954 - honestly I am not trying to drum up custom for Tesco! This was one of my flashes of inspiration that Tesco unwittingly pay me for lol !

Next quiz beginning of November, Dingbats!

Maybe some will find this useful but sorry re my quizzes for Buxton Mountain Rescue, I will be sticking with my 3 options, cheques, cash or PayPal. I personally would not wish to get involved in store cards.
