The BBC site usually uses RealPlayer for sound and video clips.

The link you clicked probably gives you an option to install RealPlayer. If not, try the BBC Technical Help page, it gives a step-by-step guide to installing RealPlayer.
Install Real Alternative, not real player.

Real player itself is junk. The alternative does the same job without slowing your computer.
