Our next door neighbours park badly and travel by taxi. The taxi blocks our drive. Unfortunately the taxi drivers do not understand when we ask them to move (It doesn't matter that the drivers change- their English is apparently very limited!) If I reported the taxi firm would it do any good? Would we get our access back?

Surely the taxi is only there for a minute or two. Don't the drivers move when they can see you trying to get your car in and out of your drive?

The local council is responsible for licencing taxis - speak to them.

the taxi has to wait for our neighbours to sort themselves out. They WILL NOT move. I understand another check on local taxi licences is due. Thanks for listening Ethel.
how long does it take your neighbours to get ready?

most people call taxis when they are ready to go
Question Author
most people would be ready I agree, however, our beloved neighbours live by very different rules!
Just tell the Taxi to move, because you want to get out, then reverse out as normal. They will get the message when your about six inches away from them! Confrontational I know, but it does work :)

I might ask Mr.Tb to do that one slackalice!
Taxi drivers can be a real pain in the bottom!!!! I recomend that you buy yourself an old 4x4...and the next time they refuse to move when you ask them......push them out of the way in your 4x4.
may cost you in insurance claims...but they wont do it again!!!!
Prince rainie - it will also get you a criminal damage record - not worth it I think. You could put a sign saying access required at all times or if they come at a certain time - park your car at the end of your drive ready to go - dont give them the opportunity to block it.

It seems strange that whenever there's a taxi next door - you need to get out of your driveway - is it a principal thing ?
almc.....!! i agree about the sign thing....but how can it be criminal damage!!! it would be an accident...
i have actually done it once.....but was deffo an accident!!! :)
Because by deliberately pushing them out of the way or hitting them with your car is criminal damage, it was not accidental. Your insurance company would not pay out for your own damage and would sue you for what they paid out to the other party. It becomes a criminal matter dealt with at the mags court and you would get a criminal record. Thats why it's not worth it !

Thank you for all the responses, there is a certain amount of fighting for a principle here as the male of the house next door leaves his van in the road and does not use his drive. Our street was built before families had cars and parking is a problem. We paid to have a drive put in, now with the constant toing and froing from nexty door we can't use it.
better still lamp him over the head with a bat
