Reverandfunk - How could I possibly comment? If a child disappeared and we have absolutely evidence or idea as to how it occurred, then you can't apportion blame.

Gina - I think your information is false. According to witnesses he McCanns arrived for dinner at 2040 local time that evening. At 2105 Mr McCann went to check on the children, followed by Dr Oldfield at 2130 according to friends. (Admittedly this can be open to bias, but there are no other witness reports to suggest that it is untrue). According to the map the restuarant is 100 yards from the apartment, so about a minute's walk. So they were a minute away and checked in every half hour. Hardly the 'several hours' that you're quoting, which only fans the flames of the rumour mill.

How do we know that Madeleine ever even existed?

For all we know, the McCanns may have invented not just Maddy's disappearnce but her entire existence in order to have a cup of tea with the pope.

All we have to go on are the photos that the couple have released to the media. But these could have been created in Photoshop. Look at the obvious flaw. They haven't even given her the same coloured eyes.

What about the sightings of her in Portugal prior to the 'disappearance'? The McCanns could easily have stuffed children's clothes full of newspaper to create a life-like dummy. Gerry looks like the sort of person who'd do that. A real parent would have more of a glum face.

And her family and friends are just playing along in the hope of sharing in the proceeds of the Find Maddy fund. They're in it together.

I mean, they don't even cry as much as they should. Such a giveaway. And such a waste of police resources.
Now whos acting the prat {NJOK}

You believe whats you want to believe, and i'll do likewise.

I think that might be for the best.

Do you agree or is this posting now to ''YOUR'' liking?
Try not to get upset if people disagree with you.

If you come out with spurious speculation, expect people to ridicule it. That's the nature of a debate.
NJOK.

Are you for real or what.

You basically stated that anyone who did not agree with you was ''thick''.

So to state that i am getting upset is quite laughable really

You do come across as quite a strange person, bit like gerry i suspose?
No, I'm not for real. I'm a life-like dummy, similar to the one that McCanns used to imitate 'Maddy'.

I didn't say the people who disagreed with me were thick. I said that people who can't grasp the reasons for the McCan's high-profile media stance were thick.

From your reaction, I'm guessing that included you.
Supernick, there are conflicting reports as regards their arrival at dinner 8.40 being one but others as late as 8.55, and other than gerry and kate, nobody else saw maddie that night, dr oldfield was outside the appartment according to yesterdays independant, and there are even reports that nobody saw maddie from 2.30 pm that afternoon.

I do think it's best not to jump to conclusions either way until the full story emerges, either to the mccanns innocence or guilt.

I don't know what to believe anymore, but i'm getting increasingly tired of team mccanns statements, which are becoming just as inaccurate as press and portugese police, for instance the offer of a deal to kate, which has been fiercely denied by the police and later described as a misunderstanding by 'team mccann'

at least people are still talking about it and she isnt out of our thoughts. If she has been taken and is still alive then thats the best thing. If I had to endure a few months of speculation about whether I had done it, in order to keep the case in people minds possibly resulting in getting my daughter back, it would be worth it, eventually.
Supernick - If I was looking after your kids and left them while I went down the pub on the lash but allegedly popped back every half hour or so to see they were okay and inbetween "visits" something terrible happened to one of them you wouldn't blame me??
The whole thing is just so heartbreaking and reading some of these answers i cant believe some of you are actually able to joke about such a tragic event.
There is only one thing we know, that none of us know the true facts and i think the main reason for this is the Portugese secrecy laws. We are so used to knowing everything when something like this happens here, that people are finding it strange not knowing, and as a result are just taking different bits of stories from the papers and news and coming up with many different scenarios.
The media are doing this aswell and it is stopping what should be happening and that is looking for Madeline.
We dont actually know what is true and what isnt. i like to keep and open mind about it but of course its hard to not think about what might have happened.
Being made a named suspect in Portugal does not mean the same as here, it does not mean you probably did it, it is more for asking certain questions and having more rights. This was done with murat and now the mccans.
I do actually think its possible for a child to be abducted and there be no evidence or trace of them. I also think that because the majority of children who are murdered are done so by their parents or someone close, this can mean the parents are sometimes wrongly accused of it, ( does anyone remember the murder of Jon Bennet Ramsey, The Pagent Queen?)
The police in this case maybe be desperate to solve it and want to be seen to be doing a good job. They have been criticised a lot already. I do think that if there was a lot of strong evidence against her parents they would have been charged by now. We have also heard that the evidence was not found straight away, this is strange.
If there is evidence that Madeliene was sedated, it is possible that the person who took her sedated her first so she did not scream or struggle when they were taking her away.
I just hope Madeleine is found safe very soon
I agree, joking about this is in bad taste! like I said on the other post today, I'm not qualified to know what's happened, but I know that the media are printing rather a lot of rumors and I think that we should wait until the police give us the information that way we can stop speculating!

If they are innocent, this must be unbearable for them!
Reverandfunk - that's different again. You're implying that 'out on the lash' is what the McCanns were doing. As far as I know they went out for dinner. Some sections of the media would like people to believe that they were acting like teenagers in Ibiza, but I doubt that's likely. So no, you couldn't look after my kids whilst you were drunk out of your mind.
at the end of the day, they left 3 children alone in a foreign country while they went out and enjoyed themselves, this is totally wrong wrong wrong
by all accounts they did it every day as well, selfish parents

I think that they kept themselves in the media to keep Maddie in the headlines.... would you not do the same if it was your child??

I do not think for one minute that these people killed their own daughter... but

They are responsible for her dissapearance... if they had not left them over and over, then who ever took her... would not have done so... They must have been watched and observed.... the perp knew their movements...

I am lucky enough to have 3 daughters, we travel all over the world in the summer hols as my dad lives in the far east.. we have never left them alone EVER. At one point when they were 6, 3 and 1 we took a double and a single buggy on holiday and in the evening, when it was late, they used to snuggle down and ge some zzz's in the buggy.. allowing us adults an hour of so of 'us ' time... whilst keeping them at our sides.

I love the company of my kids and have never even left them at a holiday kids club...

Saying all this is easy for me... as my 3 are right next door in the lounge watching tv...

I know the McCanns made a huge mistake, but.. they are certainly paying for it now...

I hope they catch the real abductor, quickly ... and let the McCanns grieve and move on.
happyjo I agree with you and always do the same. When my boy was 7mths old i went to Ibiza with friends (not the typical holiday there!) We did go out to restaurants and bars and i always had my boy in the buggy next to me, asleep or not. I have always taken him with me everywhere as i, like you, love having him with me.
But i do know parents who will not disrupt their childs sleeping routine, even occassionally and so dont take them out in the evening or even to weddings.
I think the mccans are like a lot of other parents who dont want to take their kids out with them and i truly believe they felt very safe in a luxury holiday resort when they were only at a restaurant in the complex and were checking on them. I know a lot of parents would not have left them alone and would have got a babysitter, but i really think they thought the kids were safe. The reason for not leaving the kids alone would not be because they might be abducted but because of accidents. It is just so sad and they will have to live with that forever.
Abduction? what abduction? Absolutely NO proof whatsoever.
