Just adopted a hedgehog from a rescue society. I have a large enclosed garden but have been advised to supplement feed with cat food, which I have been doing. I am not sure what hedgehog poo looks like but I have seen some which looks like mouse or possible even rat droppings round the feed bowl. Can anyone advise please? I would like to feed the hedgehog but do not want to encourage rats.

Hedgehog poo looks like shiny black slugs, about an inch to two inches long. You're very unlikely to be able to feed a hedgehog without feeding rats as rats are everywhere, thought to nest under every back garden deck in the country.
Agree with Fitzer over what the poo looks like, but when it's dried up, it can look like a small shrivelled and blackened dead worm. Can't think of any other garden animal's poo that resembles it.
I never knew one could adopt hedehogs. I had one once in my garden and it left home when I accidentally watered it with the watering can.
