Mushroom Risotto

I just went to a pub and ordered mushroom risotto from the menu. I'm no risotto expert but I was a bit surprised/disappointed when it came.

Basically it was a plate of white rice, which was a bit creamy, and in the middle of the plate a pile of fried mushrooms.

Is this what I should expect, or is there more to it than this?

Thanks for that!

It may well have been 'the right kind of rice', I'm not sure. The mushrooms were definitely not cooked with the rice, they were separate and not mixed in at all. That was what most surprised me.

I also expected more ingredients, although I'm not sure what. Perhaps some onion?

Anyway, your point about the 20 minutes makes it clear. I doubt there are many pub kitchens that can watch something cooking for that long!

Thank you for the video - the one in the video looks absolutely delicious. The Parmesan and the herbs make a huge difference to the way it looks.
