I can't get LimeWire to connect at all - it stays on "Connecting" for as long as I leave it.

I don't think it's a connection problem, as I'm running a 10meg/s connection, but MSN also takes a while (about a minute of watching the dancing people) to sign it.

Any ideas?

Check your Firewall settings and ensure Limewire is allowed rather than block.

I'd say this IS the solution therefore it may help if you post the name of your FW so someone who has the same set-up may help you navigate it easier and put the setting correct.

Well all i can say is that your up to no good on Limewire.

Downloading things illegally....................i dont know why u would even post this.

Try earning money and buy stuff mate .............pfft lame

adydb - thank-you,  you're probably right. I'm running Windows (SP2) Firewall. I'm sure I allowed LimeWire in the first place, but it could need tweeking.

Nenrulez - Your post was ill-thought-out, completely inaccurate and entirely useless.

Mattk - I'm not on home broadband.

LimeWire is definitely on the list of "Exceptions" on my Firewall settings... what else can I do?

IndieSinger Just looked in the FAQ for you, it does say that blah blah blah Java needs to initialize and will get faster after first boot. It also suggests reinstalling the application as there are times when this will resolve certain issues (eg won't start at all) 'they are working on fixing' these probs.

Ah, thank-you adydb! I will uninstall it, reinstall it, and report back!

Lovely! Uninstalled and downloaded a new version (4.4.4) which took less than 2 seconds to download.

At first, it didn't work, but then I found burried in the help section a manual way of forcing the IP address (I'd already manually "allowed" the port used to no avail.

But now it works! Thanks a lot for your help adydb!

i too could not connect to limewire. i went from a newer

version of java to an older version, 4.2  and that solved the problem

I love the Kazaa Platinum music download service. Verizon said I couldn't download songs...but I have SO many now. Don't listen to Verizon. Start downloading now http://www.kazaa-platinum.com
