Finding earlier postings

Topics on AB very quickly become crowded out by newer postings and often cannot be found without searching back through many prevous pages - showing twenty at a time. On this page I see "1 to 20 of 3707". Perhaps I've missed a point somewhere, but could there be a way (or is there a way) of searching back by name, date, time? Just a thought, but thanks for a useful and interesting forum.

I saw a question about Coronation Street.

Whilst in the same topic as the question, I searched for Coronation Street, Coronation St and Coronation.

Nothing found on any of the searches. It is a total waste of time. No wonder the same question is asked repeatedly.

it's odd, they 'fixed' the search function and it ran much better for a while... but it seems to have fallen apart again. You can search the whole site from the home page or individual sections from within them (if you know what you're looking for) but it's a wild goose chase at the moment.

Thanks to all who responded. Prophet, I was particularly interested to read about "Subscribe to this question" as I had never used it and wasn't sure what one was supposed to do or how it worked - must try it sometime

Coldicote - when you subscribe to a thread, you get an email every time somebody posts on it.

Hurrah!

Except sometimes those emails come days after the actual posting.

But can be useful for keeping track of interesting threads.

Thanks Ethel. I used to get an email whenever someone added a posting in answer to one of my own questions, but that seems to have stopped and I haven't had one for ages. I now have to remember to go back and look for myself, as I did to find your advice.
