Apparently "CSI: M" is the most popular show in the world. Although always over the top, the show has been increasingly more like a comedy, particularly this season (Horatio's "Elvis" pose in Rio had me in stitches), though presumably this is unintentional. I know a lot of people think the same, but is this a general view? Or do people really think it all looks cool? If there's any Americans (EngTeach?) or people from Latin American countries about, it would be particularly interesting to hear their views.

Oh I couldn't agree with you more. I find Grissom and his chums quite fascinating, as do I Mac and his team in New York, but there's something about the Miami lot that almost strikes me as being a spoof! I mean apart from anything else, did you ever see a more unlikely looking pathologist!

No, sorry, I've abandoned CSI Miami. I watched the first of this season's episodes and decided I couldn't be bothered. I'd rather watch re-runs of Las Vegas or New York!
I agree with you about the pose in Rio - we re-wound it numerous times to have a laugh. I find that we now watch it purely to enjoy the cliches, (we roared with laughter at them all walking along the beach at the end of the 100th episode). I also agree that this is probably unintentional from the producers, but everybody I know who watches it is saying the same thing. However, it's still a slick, well made show with wonderful scenery, and I shall continue to watch it for the time being. If only to count the Horatio-isms!

I'm still watching, but find myself wondering why. I wonder if it's just cynical Brits who see it this way (even the trailers sometimes take the mickey out of the show - particularly the one that used "The Future's So Bright I Gotta Wear Shades"), or whether viewers in other countries think, "I wish I could be as cool as Horatio".
Please don't dis the "H"

Whilst being so cool about everything - he always gets his man, always ***** his head to one side and always has a neat one liner. I wouldn't miss it for the world. It doesnt take itself as seriously as the other two - which I also love.

I would like to be referred to as Horatio Wolf - I'd love someone to say "Mr Wolf, what do we have here?" My wife has threatened to divorce me if I dont stop wearing the dark suit, stripy shirts, plastic gun on my hip and a PC plod warrant badge around the house, investigating the Mal Noche in Doncaster "

"We're going to Brazil !!! " was one of the coolest things he's said.

I noticed (before I stopped watching), for a forensic scientist, Horatio did remarkably little actual scientific work. In fact I can't really remember him doing any scientific work at all.

I suppose it's understandable really, after all, his time seemed to be taken up by waiting at the ends of corridors, standing at 90 degree angles just in case one of the lesser bods needed to speak to him. And I guess practicing keeping a straight face while putting on the sunglasses and uttering the cringingly bad one-liners would be quite time consuming as well.

And while I think about it, when did the forensic scientists become the front-line troops (so to speak) when going after murders/drug gangs/bank robbers/insert preferred criminal type here? I think they need a better union!

I could continue, but I'm off to go through each episode of Dr. Who and catalogue the continuity errors!
I much prefer CSI Vegas and New York.

I'm not convinced that David Caruso is all that brilliant an actor and the character Horatio is either too goof to be true - oh I'll just give my private phone number out to any small child, women, dog who looks like they need help. And of course be free when they need me! - or when anything really emtional does happen, like the death of his wife and brother, he just looks like he has got mild indigestion rather than that he is in grief!

Also the ME women - can't remember her name I'm afraid - looks so emaciated in the current series she might as well be a corpse!

No give me Grissom or Mac anyday!
must have put this link up a few rimes now, but still makes me laugh - love the whole team though.

Even Jim Carrey (not the world's most versatile performer) has noticed DC's "unique" acting style...

dot - wow! Going to Mass on a Sunday must be like visiting the set of "Jailhouse Rock".
