Hi there abers, my dog has just got out the front door with the workmen being here. She ran up the road , I had no idea she could still run that fast . Alas I can't so I had to just grab her lead and hobble off in her general direction.
Fortunately she is very friendly so a kind person had kept her by making a fuss of her til I got there. She then just came to me , head into her collar , and proceeded to walk home like little miss innocent.
Have any of you panicked with the escape of a pet ?

Yes ruby , I love the things little hamsters can get up to , I have had 3 over the years and all friendly little characters that would enjoy a ride on or in things including whizzing round the house in their ball.:-)
Hippyhoppy , a big hug :-) x

Tiggerwoo love , you are not balmy at all for wanting your cats in at night and inside safe . Its good to hear you love and care for them so well. :-)
As you say divegirl , they can be very independant.;-)

wolf fyi its the hamster that has the car - the cat would be clinging to the lights if i put her near anything like that lol. Also the hamster escaped from his ball one day and the back door was opened - oh no i thought - then I heard a crunching, when i turned roung the hamster was in the cats food bowl - eating her biscuits. Now that's what i call brave.
Bigmamma i love this thread, its so funny
True Blue
Your Hamster has just never seen themselves in the mirror has it. In its imagination its Indiana Jones or some other do deering hero.

Oh True Blue , I am still laughing at the bravado of your hamster actually eating the cats biscuits in its dish !!!

Small animals like Hamsters scare me - I'm terrified I will flatten it. But they seem like fun little pets. I can just imagine one in a RC car with the cat looking on in bemusement.

As I type this my cat is sitting going "Wah, Wah, Wah" in a pathetic cry. He is mega-hungry again. There is a bowl of dried Iams sitting untouched and a big bowl of water - but he wants another pouch of meat. The pouch that he had for breakfast long forgotten - I mean it was nearly half an hour ago! And he probably ate his breakfast and most of his sister's too. Sometimes I wish that he would run away!

But all three of us are off for a cat nap - its too early to stay awake!
Question Author
Hi wolf , you were up early , hope your cat gave in and left you to get a cat nap . :-) x
bigmamma - I was up early as my ever-hungry evil cat woke me up. He sat on my head and cried into my ear. He was later today - usually it is about 4am.

He's a lovable rogue. http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s136/wolf63 /kingofthecastlesmall.jpg ...... Frankie

His sister is quieter. http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s136/wolf63 /Merlinonprintersmall.jpg ...... Princess Merlin

What absolute cuties wolf , they look so soft and cuddly.
Frankie definately has a delightfully cheeky face , and Princess Merlin is giving the camera a deep thoughtful look. :-) x
I was walking my border collie Ben alongside a river near our house when he decided to take a leap into the water!!
Thankfully he was on an extending lead and we were at an area where the water wasn't too deep, only about half a metre. Ben was about 8 months old at the time so it might have been deep to him!

With the help of a passer by I managed to haul him out after a few moments.
I was terrified that he would be lifeless swhen he came out of the water, but he merely stood up and proceeded to shake himself, soaking me and the passer by all over!!
I laughed so much I cried, I think it may have been shock aswell!!
He looked so funny, dripping wet !
I still can't understand why he did it, he hates water !!
Question Author
Oh babybombo , thank goodness you had the long lead to pull Ben back in , brave little soul to leap into that deep water eh. :-)
Just recently my mini-teckel (who has a back hip) darted out the front door and was a block away before my daughter caught up with him. Unfortunately, when he saw her he ran toward her in front of traffic. But she screamed so loud that all traffic stopped and he missed getting hit by about 4 inches. I panicked because he is an aggressive biter and I didn't want him to attack anyone.

How scary spitfire , lucky your daughter screamed , and your dog avoided getting hurt .
