By chance I went into the centre of Dunstable, Bedfordshire, today. I would like to tell Answerbankers of the absolutely marvellous cream tea's available at The Rose Tea Garden, Priory House right in the very centre of Dunstable. It is an olde worlde coaching house with views across flowered lawns to the 12th century St Peters Church. Very, very, much better than many a cream tea I've had in Devon and Cornwall !!!! Only 4.95 for two people !! It is the pleasure and bargain of the century !!! Well worth a detour so as not to miss whilst it lasts !!!

Well, if anyone is going for a cream tea today you will need both a torch and a boat. Whatever has happened to the weather?
I think both Ratter and I would argue the cream tea factor.

best cream teas I know of are in Dunster at the willow tea rooms.
In Looe, Cornwall the best cream tea is at Mrss Marples tea rooms, on the main highstreet first floor across from the big fish and chip shop.

Working in Devon and living in Cornwall I have my fair share!
There is a choice of afternoon teas here
I'm glad you enjoyed your tour of Priory House & St. Peters Church Evorg.

The cream teas are delish, although I've only had two since it opened - so far! I have to say, the ones I've had in the West Country & Cotswolds are a hard act to follow too.

Both our daughters got married in St. Peters Church & we can hear the church bells from our house, every Wednesday evening & on Saturdays. Brings back many happy memories of two wonderful days.
I'm at uni in Exeter and often go to Cornwall. To St Just in fact where there is tea shop combined with a secondhand bookshop. The cream teas there are lovely.
I often used to go to Zennor for a clotted cream tea. Next to the Tinmaker's Arms there is a chapel which has been converted into a hostel and combined cafe. The clotted cream tea's are excellent, particularly in fine weather when you can sit outside. Today I send to the maker's for the essential ingredient and include this link should other AB'ers like to do so as well (it's good with your Xmas pud as well as cream tea !)

When we are in Cornwall we like to go to Anns Pantry in Mousehole (a village near Newlyn) for our cream teas. Very nice indeed. Also the crab sandwiches are recommended.
Kingsway - whenever we've been anywhere for a cream tea, my husband always has a crab sandwich instead!
Hi smudge. Yes, I like a crab sandwich now and again in preference too! A good place for your husband to go for a variety of smoked fish is The Smoked Fish Co at Charlestown nr St Austell, and Charlestown itself is a fantastic place to visit, especially when the old boats are in. Thinking about it, I had a look to see if I could come up with a picture for you and found this

The pink building is a pub/restaurant and is good to visit.

Must be be very nice to live in the centre with all the amenities, smudge. I'm in the sticks 'twixt Harpenden and Hemel. I only mentioned Rose Tea Garden because it was so pleasant in the half hour of sun on the day we were there and it saves 2-300 miles to the West Country for roughly the same thing.

Thank you for that link, Mustafa, I had not thought that it could be ordered online, and 1lb will be travelling towards me when they post on Monday (i've already got the jam and scones !!)

Thanks to everyone who responded, and every happiness to you all.
Not at all, Evorg.
Back again - thank you for that photo Kingsway - happy memories & can't wait to pop down to the West Country again - love it.

Yes Evorg - I must admit it is very handy for the shops, doc's, dentist, etc. Although, we have to venture into Milton Keynes for stores like John Lewis, etc.
