Just wanted someone to tell me whether its posible to tow an automatic car for approximately 350 miles. I went to a friends place in Cheshire and the car broke down. I want to tow it using my friend's car to Glasgow.
Anybody with any ideas?

With every auto I have had the drivers handbook recommends not towing for more than 30 miles and to keep the speed below 30mph.

the reason is that without the engine running the oil cannot circulate around the gearbox so causing damage.
The only way to tow that distance is with a tow truck with the driving wheels raised (bit stuck if it's a 4wd auto) or on a trailer.
Agree with Toureman.

To cover that distance you need to raise the driving wheels off the ground.
BillyNoMates can type faster than me.
if its rear wheel drive just remove the prop shaft. assuming the front coupling is flanged
