I looked back but cannot see anywhere that this has been posted. apologies if I am repeating this.

A new site is now operating to try to reduce the cost of BMD certs, the site is www.BMDshare.com, the aim of the site is to list the full details of all certs.

The site is free at the moment but from 2008 the charge will be 1 per year. What they ask is that anyone who has any certs to submit them to the site on the on-line form, it is easy I managed it, basically asks for all information of the cert.
Then before sending to GRO and paying 7 look at the site to see if anyone has already got all the details.
The more certs on the better. I have nothing to do with this site just think it is a good idea.

I think it's a great site - all my certificates are listed on there and have been for a while now.
It is getting easier all the time, i just hope the 1911 census is ready for 2008 as promised, it will make a lot of difference.
A similar site for Scottish BMDs only is

www.sctbmd.com

And (so far!) theres no mention of a charge being made.
