To find out why your tree died you need to give more information, where was it positioned, what soil, was it windy, wet area etc
Question Author
thanks hugoagogo66, its about 40 years old, never had a problem and all of a sudden this year no new shoots and brittle. The bark at the bottom has started to peel off and has started to go spongey. It is at bottom of my garden but not by a water source - do you think it has died through drought?
