Windows Explorer crashing

Anytime I right click on a file and select Properties my PC hangs a little and if Windows Explorer is open it crashes and closes. It's fine if I right click on an entire drive in Explorer (in which case I get the space used/free info) but not on files or desktop links. Any ideas? I realise this is a very obscure question. I'm using XP Pro if that helps.

Obscure or not, I hope someone has the answer because I am experiencing the same problem, but for the second time. The first time I resorted to a full re-install of XP Pro as another symptom is that the System Restore facility doesn`t work either. I`m a stickler for keeping on top of malware, viruses, trojans etc. so I am confident that is not the cause.
Guy's I'm having the same exact problem and its driving me nuts! It only crashes at the file level, not folder. It's almost like it restarts the shell. Note, that I didn't have this problem before I installed SP2.
