Our neighbours are having a lot of building work done and we were rudely awoken at 7:30am on Saturday morning by very loud drilling and again this morning at 7am - what are the regulations with regards to what time tradesmen can start work?

I would check with the local council, but if I am remembering correctly, they should not start before 8am and they may need "out of hours permission" for the weekends in a residential area, so get checking, good luck, Ray

Tried that, the builders said "oh! we didn't realise it was that time!" - utter nonsense!
I think Ray is about right but the 'rules' do allow Saturday morning 8-12 as well.

So if 8am is correct and they're starting at 7, what do I do now?
You get on to the local council and tell them, and tell them you want it sorted, they will have to investigate it, do it today, good luck, Ray

I've e-mailed the council just to be clear on what the times are and had a generic response back, just waiting for an actual human to respond before I try and take it further.

Thanks guys!
E-mailed them ? Do you want it sorting out beofre the works finished ?

Ring them ! - Phone the environmental health dept - someone will answer and explain to them the problem - they have officers who go out and can issue notices and if it persists, confiscate the item making the noise. Good luck.
