A new pair of jeans came with the care label stuck on the inside of the back pocket. Said to remove before washing, which I did. There's still a sticky residue though. Any of your clever people know of anything I can use to try to dissolve it before putting them the wash again?

Put a cloth in the pocket, squirt lighter fluid on it and the sticky residue will transfer to the cloth. I have used this method with double sided tape and Cellotape.
This might help, have used for chewing gum. Heat up iron and place sheet of greaseproof paper over the mark, then put old piece of cloth over that and then iron the heat and steam should lift it onto the greaseproof paper. Good luck!
