Is it possible at all to find out whether a person has ever been named as a father on a birth certificate?

If the surname of the mother was unknown and cannot search that way - is there any place you can search the fathers surname and see if it comes up as listed ??

If the parents were unmarried the father has to be present at the registration of the birth for his name to be put on the birth certificate.

Hi Ethel. But what if you wanted to find out if somebody other than your self had ever had children and signed a birth certificate? I know how to search the birth certificate records for any children with this mans name, but nothing comes up so I am assuming the partner registered the children under her surname, which I don't know. So is there a reverse way of searching for the fathers name, and then see if anything he has ever signed comes up??
This all seems rather unsavoury - why would you want to do this?

Can't you ask the man concerned?

I don't know of such search facility.

No, its not - honestly. Its all to do with a long standing contact order with my partner and his ex. Certain things are being dragged in now such as does her new partner have children. It has been sworn on oath in court by them that he doesnt but my partners daughter tells us that he does have 2 children and has even told us their names.
