The area has a history with alot happening around the English Civil War.

I thought the item firstly was a top/spike of a 'Pike' but on looking on the internet mine seems too big for that.

Shape - longated triangular (like this /\)

So there is an obvious point to this (weapon?)
On the opposite end on the triangle (flat bottom /_\) is a huge deep groove which allows for the insertion on most likely a pole.

Size - large hand or slightly bigger.

Material - possibly iron as extremely heavy and magnetic.

The large cut in 'trough' like groove where it looks like a pole is to be inserted, there is a chance that there is supposed to be a front to that trough making it enclosed and therefore there would just be a hole in the bottom to push a pole 'up' say to speak. But as it is very weathered it is hard to tell if there was a frontage or not.

I am finding it so difficult to find out what this item might be I thought maybe someone might know on here???

The Sealed Knot society are a group of people who re-enact battles from the English Civil War. They also make uniforms and even make weapons and armour.

Maybe if you contact them they will have someone who lives near you who could help you identify the object you have found.

Their web site is here

Nothing to do with your question, but if you are interested in the English Civil War then some of the events English Heritage run may interest you.

Here is the English Heritage site

And here is an example of one of the events they run

The major event they run is the Festival of History in August.

This is where THOUSANDS of re-enactors come together from all over the world and spend the weekend living and fighting as people did from all periods in history.

It is open to the public and you can wander round looking at people dressed up as Romans, English Civil War, American Civil War, First World War, Second World War and so on.

They have loads of battle re-enactmements, and I have seen some battles with 300 or 400 people in them.

They have chariots, horses, tanks, planes and all sorts of things related to history.

Some people spend all weekend living like people did in history, and some first world war groups dig trenches and spend the weekend living in the trenches taking pot shots at the Germans in another trench.

IT IS A GREAT DAY OUT (in fact you will not see it all in a day)
