Most car radios require two separate 'positive' connections. One comes directly from the battery. This is solely used to power the radio's memory, so that the radio stores the security code and station preferences. This circuit draws very little current and so it's 'always-on' status doesn't risk draining the battery when the car is not in use.

The second positive lead is routed via the ignition switch, so that power is only available when the key is in the ignition. This lead provides the main power for the radio, which requires a much higher current than the memory circuit. It's routed via the ignition switch to prevent the radio being left on when the car is not in use (and subsequently draining the battery).

It seems that your old radio had both the memory and power circuit connected via the lead which was fed directly from the battery. (This kept the memory active but risked you draining the battery if you left the radio switched on when you were away from the car). You've now got both circuits connected via the lead which is routed via the ignition switch. (So there's no risk of you draining the battery but the memory circuit is disconnected whenever you take the key out).

You're going to have to work out which of the two positive inputs is which and then identify the correct two leads to make the connection.

If you can't identify an 'always-on' lead, it's easy to provide one by simply connecting a lead to the battery side of any fuse in the fuse-box. (That's what I did in my old Fiesta). Whichever lead is presently supplying power to your radio is obviously the one which goes via the ignition switch.
