Connect laptop to internet out and about

We spend family holidays in a touring caravan. It would be useful to connect my laptop to the internet wherever we go to check weather, news and emails. What's the best / cheapest way of doing this? Via a mobile phone, wireless modem, etc.

If you want to use your wifi laptop you will have to be in a wifi hotspot, and usually pay -

If you use your mobile phone it is very expensive.

Perhaps an internet cafe would be the best solution.
