Hi there,

I'm hoping someone can help me cos I'm freaked out by what happened to me today...

We went to the hotsprings - a naturally occuring hot water source that has different temperature pools for you to bathe in. So I started off in the not so hot one, all OK. Then moved on to the hotter one - it's the temperature of a nice bath, got out felt a bit lightheaded. Had a cold shower and headed to the very hot bath, stayed in for about 3 minutes until I couldn't stand it any longer and then got into a very cold bath - it's supposed to be good for you but I just became lightheaded, dizzy, nauseous and I couldn't focus, it was like being drunk where your vision is impaired - what I was seeing what moving up and down before my eyes and I thought I was going to pass out and/or throw up. Does anyone have any idea what caused this? I'm a relatively healthy 33 year old, I don't smoke and hadn't drunk any alcohol previous to the bath.

Thanks

It could have been the result of your blood sugar being low if you hadn't eaten for a while. Also blood vessels relax when your bathing and if you stand up quickly, blood rushes down your body depriving the head of blood so that could account for the dizziness and nausea. If you go again eat something about an hour and a half before but not just before and move very slowly in between the hot and cold areas. It may also be a good thing to get your blood pressure checked as people with low blood pressure should stear clear of this sort of treatment.
hi monkeygirl. I get that all the time, it's something to do with your blood pressure thats all. Having said that, when I was growing up my mum and dad always used to tell me not to have such hot baths because its mean't to be bad for you. I still have very hot baths and it affects me in much the same way sometimes.
