Women guarding Buckingham Palace

For hundreds of years it has been a job for the boys. But that is no more. Women soldiers have taken up posts guarding Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle. Women stood proud with their male colleagues who will guard the castle 24 hours a day for the next month. Do you think it's great that women are now doing jobs that men once would only do? Or would you rather see males guarding the palace and castle in the name of tradition?

I don't really care who guards the palace.
It looks as if the Army are so far stretched these days that it has now come to this.

But if this is not the case and it is just taking place all in the name of political correctness, then I feel it is a shame that we are now losing traditions that have been in place for hundreds of years.

I do not even think it is right for any other regiments than the traditional Foot Guards to carry out these duties. Let's stick to the traditional Male guard in his red tunic and Bearskin head gear, this is what the tourists enjoy.

We have had equal employment rights since before the phrase 'Political Correctness' were first coined. There is absolutely no reason why this job cannot be done by a woman, so if they are in the army let them do their job. They have been properly trained. I thought their job was to guard the Queen not to entertain foreign tourists.

There should be no dicrimination to any job on the grounds of sex if the person is able to perform it.

I would draw the line at employing a male Royal Wet Nurse, though.
Given that we've had Fathers For Justice scaling the walls, the self-styled comedy terrorist getting into Windsor and a man sitting at the end of the Queen's bed, I'm not sure the men have the greatest track record in the job anyway.

Let the women have a go. Not that I give even the slightest speck of a monkey's a*se.
Wouldn't a woman in a Bear Skin look a little like Marge Simpson though?
