flying within in the usa

are there cheap internal flights within the states, ie chicago to las vegas return, imagine it to be a bit like australia with cheap internal flights and wonder if they do mystery flights like in oz too??

Yes there are... a number of smaller airlines operate on a limited schedule from many cities to resort destinations, such as Las Vegas. One, in particular is growing by leaps and bounds and has an excellent safety record (I've been in commercial aviation about all of my life). Allegiant Airlines operates from an outlying city on Monday and Tuesday and then return there from Las Vegas (an now Orlando) on Thursday and Friday at very reduced fares. Often times, with such airlines, the fare includes the hotel stay as well, since the hotels are involved in the fare structure enabling the cheaper costs. Don't expect much in the way of frills, but everyone certainly enjoys themselves...

you can get amazing internal deals to Vegas with hotel thrown in, our friends in San Jose did it all for us but after we arrived at here place by just checking the local papers.

Ive allways found Southwest airlines very cheap..Expedia.com are good for internal flights within usa...
