i have emailed various doctors but received no detailed answers that have helped me. All I want to know is, what happens if you're pregnant and still take the pill? (Because you didn't know you were pregnant, not purposly) Is this possible? Any information?

when i wa son the pill the doctor always said that if i thought i might be pregnant to stop taking the pill.
i don't think its harmful but best to check. i bthink the pill makes the womb lining thinner. xx ( i hope this means congrats)
i dont think anyone has an answer to this because the only way of doing detailed studies is to give the pill to pregnant woman and note the results. What pregnant woman is going to take the risk?
All you can do is stop taking the pill as soon as you find out or suspect you are pregnant and wait for your scans etc to confirm all is ok.
If it helps, i do know women who conceived whilst on the pill and both babies were fine.

My daughter in law found out she was 6 months pregnant in November, she had been on the pill, so it came as a big surprise to her, and everyone else! When she went for her check up she was told everything was fine, she was very concerned about being on the pill all that time. The baby was due on Valentines Day, so we started to get things sorted for the baby almost straight away, good job really as the baby decided to come early, and arrived on Christmas Eve. They have called her Holly, she is our first grandchild, perfect and absolutely gorgeous. So the answer to your question is yes it is definitely possible. If you think you could be pregnant then do a test. It will put your mind at rest and you will then be in a position to make informed decisions on what to do next. Good Luck
Depends which pill. Dianette can cause problems with the development of a male foetus.
hi i fell pregent whilst taking the pill and it was dianette. stopped taking it as soon as found out, had a terriable pregency not due to taking the pill i will add and i gave birth to a healthy baby boy 3 wks early, that was nearly 4yrsago and he is still doing fine. but eveyone and everything is different so i wouldn't like to say 4 def that it will be ok. i also know off loads of people who have caught on on the pill and have all gone on to have healthy babys boys and girls...
If you think you are pregnant, stop taking it straight away and use another form of contraception when having sex until you know for sure.

The pill works because it gives you extra hormones to stop your womb lining thickening and should prevent you ovulating as well as making the mucous around your cevix thicker and more difficult for the sperm to get through (for the combined pill anyway). If you are pregnant, you have higher levels of hormones than normal so to be putting even more into your body would, in my opinion, not really do a developing baby much good.

The risks would probably be less if you are on a mini-pill but yes, dianette does cause a lot more complications if you are pregnant. I also read in a medical journal once that it showed signs of mildly increasing the risk of breast cancer too but I've never seen anything published since so i am presuming that the research was unsubstantiated.
