Contraceptive Coil anyone?

I had one fitted about 5 years ago when I was 28 - doctor said wouldn't normally for someone under 30 who hadn't had children, but I had terrible problems with the pill and was adamant that I didn't want children.

Guess what? I've changed my mind and would love to make babies ! I'm due to have my coil removed on Friday but have 2 questions:

1. I haven't had a period for the whole time the coil has been in - am I in for a terrible time when my body adjusts to normality?

2. Am I likely to ever conceive given that the doctor had said they don't like to give the coil to people who haven't already had children?

Any experiences or advice would be gratefully received. Many thanks,

xx

I was going to go for the coil and was told that once it was removed then within 3 months i would be fertile again, i have never heard about it not being given if you want kids, its a short ter sterilisation method, meaning once removed you can concieve.

I was informed also that my body may have some heavy periods until i got used to my natural rythym again, and from a friends point of view that is quite true, but again within a couple of months she was fine.

Good luck!!
I had my coil removed and fell pregnant within 7 days! I didnt even have a period which was excellent. It didnt hurt having it removed either.
