You can't run the regular controller in the PS3, but if the Guitar Hero game has USB connectors instead of the usual plug, then they will work.
Sorry, unless of course Guitar Hero isn't one of the 1000 PS2 games that work on the PS3
i work for a games retailer and the version i got told was that sony have pulled out the chip that will let you play ps2 and one games on the playstation 3. i think its so that you download them from the internet site sony have set up. i think its a rip off coz you have already bought the game once (usually). so if you do manage to connect the guiter be prepared to download the game off the net.
The whole story is, are we sitting comfortably?, Sony has removed the PS2 chip from the PS3, but the system can emulate, on day of release, approx 1000 PS2 games, and with regular firmware updates(assuming you're connecting the PS3 to the net), the number will grow and grow, so eventually(assuming(again) guitar hero won't be in the original 1000) you will be able to play the game on the PS3, but as i've said before, as long as the connection from the guitars is a USB and not the same as the regular controllers, you should be alright.
