Went to see my doctor who said I need grommets (I'm 24) all research i've found online says that grommets and adenoid removal is for children - anyone know of adults having these procedures? My doc wasn't very helpful and the procedures sound scary and quite risky!

my son had them done at 4 years old . do you have problems hearing ?
The reason for this is because your adenoids usually shrivel upas you get older. I am 27 and when I get tonsilitis my adenoids also get infected as mine havent shriveled up either. Its not usual but not impossible. I am fortunate that my adenoids rarely effect my ears but its a common side effect. A grommet just helps your ear drain fluid from your middle ear I think. Anyway I am down to have mine taking out and think it will be beneficial, so good luck to you.
Aged 24 needing Grommets? Get a second opinion. Grommets(ventilating tubes) may be indicated in your age group, unusual, so find out reason first. An E.N.T Consultant would say whether or not you need theas tubes inserted.
