Pain in left eye

I've been getting a strange pain in my eye today. I get it from time to time, like something digging into my eyeball when there is nothing there.

I get this every so often and it usually lasts about a day

I wondered if it was caused by contact lenses (which I wear a couple of days a week) but I often get this pain on days I wear my glasses, also it is right up on the top of my eyeball, nowhere near where the lenses sit.

I have made an appointment with my optician next week (earliest I could get) but I was wondering if there are any opticians out there that could give me any ideas as to what it might be!

Have you taken the spoon out of your coffee cup?
Could be a migraine - if the optician can't help, I'd go to the doc.

Its not like a migrane, its just in my eyeball, not my head.
migraines can just be located behind one or both eyes more often than the head

Its not a migraine
I know what you mean, I've been getting the same in one eye recently. Almost like a twig being poked in my eye! It's definitely not a migraine, I have loads of those too! If I find out what it is first I'll let you know..
