sending a sound file

what is the best format to send a sound file (music) via email I have tryed mp3 and wav but either the reciepents cant open it or it is to big to send i have a program that will convert to varous formats

The best idea would be to send it as a .mp3 file. The file size of a .wav would be about twice that of a mp3. If your friend cannot play .mp3 files then they need to update their computer or media software.

.wav is much bigger than .mp3. more than twice the size. more like 6 - 7 times
