Does anyone else get really fed up with people on quiz shows who use the excuse that they didn't know an answer because " i wasn't born then" or "that's a bit before my time"
It drives me nuts! I wasn't born in 1066 (contrary to my childrens' opinion) but i know what happened that year!

Yes, I agree it's a pathetic excuse but then I get very irritated by people on quiz shows, generally the younger generation, who don't seem to know anything about anything. They have such poor general knowledge you wonder why they go on quiz shows like The Weakest Link or Perfect Strangers in the first place.
Well said horselady - there were comments on here a few days ago that made me fume - someone didn't know the dates of the great wars, wanted to know what happened to the Jews - made me think - did it make my blood boil because they didn't know or because of a failing in the education system?
I think we need a new gameshow, concentrating on 'X Factor' or 'Big Brother' - or 'spin-offs - 'I've got no talent' or 'Bullying for amateurs' - after all, these are the most important things we should be teaching our youngsters, aren't they ?? (Tongue firmly in cheek!)
Hello horselady, I was at a pub quiz some time ago with my step-daughter aged 24 the question was... What is the capital of Tasmania....she said "Tasmania..never heard of it" I was amazed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exactly! My son is a real computer whizz kid, works in the business, does shipping orders worth thousands, can talk computers all day long, but my goodness if we're ever watching an ordinary general knowledge quiz, you'd be forgiven for thinking he was a complete dumbo. I had to laugh at his friend recently, he is a carpenter by trade and they were having a friendly banter over who had the most important job, his mate silenced him once and for all with the words " carpenters were making the desks for your precious computers long before they were even thought of!"
Bye the way my step daughter whos never heard of Tasmania is a teacher (infants) the clues are there.
