A friend of mine bought me a lovely leather handbag in Morrocco.. the only problem is it is made from Camel leather and has a really rancid stench. Does anyone know any remedies for getting the horrible dead smell out of leather?

would sticking it outside on your washing line during these coooooooooooold frosty days help?
I heard to get the smell out of items you gat some of that shake and vac stuff for your carpet - the powder you sprinkle on the carpet and vac off. You get a plasic bag no holes put some of that shack vac powder in put the hand bag in, tie it up shake the bag and leave it for as long as posible to take up the smell. I would shake it as often as possible.

Also could you get one of those sprays of leather they have in the shop they protect your leather shoes from rain/damp etc you spray it on that may cover the smell up put it may seal it in ---so my be a last ditch attempt. Maybe they sell a leather anti smell spray in the supermarkets of shoe shops like frebrezze for leather.
