I live in a 2 bed Victorian terrace. The 2 downstairs rooms are knocked through into 1 large one so there are 2 chimney breasts. I want to open up one of the holes quite large, big enough to put a wine rack in. The other hole I just wnat to make bigger so candles ect can go in. Can anyone tell me what sort of tradesman I would need to contact to do and approx how much time and cost of work. I live in Nottingham. Thanks in advance.

Hi rosy You need a builder to put structural lintles in to prevent the chimney breast collapsing during this process they need to blank off the flue with wall pins and reinforced concrete and also incorporate an air vent,so as you can see it,s a big messy job to do it to regs with peace of mind then you need a plasterer HTH Tez
