I am currently using a 15 day trial of Norton but was wondering if I can get a free version of protection programme? Or must I pay to protect my pc? If so where is best to buy and how much should it cost? thanks

After being highly recommended by many Aber's, I use the free version of AVG.Try it, its excellent.

I used Norton for several years, but find the the newer versions are resource hogging and caused my laptop to slow down.

AVG as my anti-virus software
Kerio as my firewall
Have to agree with other posts.I used Norton for several years and found it slowed down my pc.I also had trouble with symantec after Norton crashed my pc just after I had paid to renew it.Didn't answer e-mails and ultimately just told me to buy a fresh version despite 30 paid 2 weeks earlier.

I have had AVG free antivirus and Zone Alarm firewall for several years and so far nothing has got past them.

Couple these two with antispyware such as Ad-awre se and spybot and you will be well protected
I have Norton and it appears to do its job, but I'm having second thoughts about it because of slowing things down. Even when off line if I want to open any previously saved work (even files I've created myself) I have to wait ages while Norton scans the file before it opens. Seems a bit daft when off line. I'll probably change when the times comes.
