Are skin tags dangerous? As in hazardous to a persons health rather than going out holding up banks.

I recently asked my doctor to check out a raised-mole on my back. She told me that in fact it wasn't a mole, it was a skin tag and that it was harmless. You can have them removed, but apparantly they are liable to grow back. As mine isn't on show all the time, I'm not bothered but, in answer to your question, no, they're not dangerous. But get your doctor to check anything out you're concerned about : )

it's actually my boyfriend, he has a very small one on his side, he wont go the drs about anything so thought id ask on here! he did have one on his elbow which he picked off (yukky!!) would this be dangerous, he did it ages a go but there is still a red patch
Typical man, eh? Not sure about how the 'picking it' might effect it. But I wouldn't advise anyone to do that. The red patch is probably just a scar - but tell him to stop it, just in case : )

yeah i did tell him he shouldn't have picked it and if it was bothering him he could have got it removed but they wont listen will they!!
I had a couple of tiny ones - no more than 2mm in length - on the side of my neck... and being a 'typical man' (makemesmile) I just pulled them off. They bled for a short time but healed quickly and I have no scarring. At the docs they freeze them off with liquid nitrogen... or tie them off with a bit of cotton thread.
If it is a skin tag sophie. Tell you bf to twist in clockwise till it hurts then do the same thing a few hours later. The tag will turn blue due to lack of blood flow. I've got rid of tag's on my neck in 1 day doing it this way.
My partner had 2 skin tags burnt/froze off whatever you want to call it two weeks ago they havent gone yet.

ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

i wouldnt bother getting them treated they are harmless
