little black flies

I have noticed some small little black flies in the bathroom and other rooms in my house. I wanted to know where they may be coming from?

Valentine, do you have any plants? If you have, check the plants & soil. it maybe they are contaminated.

Any idea what to do if your soil has these critters?

naz - I can't find my plant book, I think if you completely renew the soil & spray the plant ( depending whether the plant in question can have its leaves wetted ) with water, it should fix the problem.

They are called scarid flies and they live in the soil eating the decaying matter - maybe your houseplants have some dying leaves etc. Also if the soil is too wet that doesnt help.

I haven't got any plants, so I don't really know where these flies are coming from.
