Garmin sat nav - problems with cradle

I am trying to put together a Garmin sat nav, but I can't even get the cradle thingy together. It comes in two pieces that are supposed to fit together with a ball and socket fitting. The ball won't go in the socket as it is too small (as it should be otherwise it'd fall out) and there is nothing in the manual about how to put it together. There are some tiny Philips screws which I have no screwdriver small enough for, but I'm not sure that unscrewing it will make any difference. Before I go out and buy a screwdriver from an opticians can someone give me some advice! Please! Thanks!

I had a similar problem. I contacted the supplier who told me there were 2 different pieces and I had been sent the wrong one. They despatched the correct piece next day!
You don't state which model it is, but the 3i needs quite a fair amount of force to push the ball into its socket.
Have you tried hard enough.
