Hi there,

I had an old cupboard that came with the house, in that the frame of it came out from the wall - so, i have taken this frame down - and plan to cover this space with a sheet of plasterboard - however, just looking for some tips:

Do i build the frame into the space andcover

Or

Do i build the frame outwith the space - then fit into the space and attach to the wall that way?

Any ideas?

Many thanks,
Neil

You can do either, but to build it first then fit it your measuring and cutting has got to be spot on, so if you have never done this before, build the frame into the space, remember to put cross pieces in (Noggins) to give it strength, I would put the bottom in first then the top piece, then the two side pieces, then build in from that, the ideal width of the uprights should be 16" centres, but might not be possible in the gap you have so do it as near as possible, remember to leave enough depth for plasteboard and skim, good luck, Ray
