Hi, Sorry, this is a long explanation but I hope someone can help!

My renault clio (P reg) has been suffering from a strange loss and surging of power.
It happens on the flat but is worst of all when I am going up hill, even in the low gears, if I need a lot of power to get up the hill, I put my foot down and very little happens, I will be in second gear and have no power, after a few panicing seconds some power ' chuggs' through, it isn't an even acceleration at all, and I have to stay in that low gear for a long time before changing up.

When Idle I don't really notice any misfiring, it is really when I put my foot down for some power that it happens.

After the engine has run for a while and warmed up the problem seems to go away, similarly, it is worse in the mornings and really bad after sitting around for a day or two.

Iv'e had it serviced but this has been going on for ages. The Renault garage says the computer says everything is fine and they send me off. The thing is, by the time I drive to the garage, the engine is warm and running ok so they don't see it! (I have also tried a fuel additive)

Any ideas? Thanks.

If there is a chugging in the change of low gears ask them to check if your air mass module is performing correctly. I had this problem with turbo diesel bmw. Luckily driven off forecourt into by lovely guy who had experienced problem before. The other staff treated me like I had automotive Munchaussens by proxy!Good luck.
