I have copied this from another site, but it is very concerning Posted by Toothsmith on money saving expert. Petition On NHS Dentistry Hi all, I wondered about adding this to the NHS dentistry patient information thread, but decided it could do with a thread on it's own. If you have an NHS dentist, or if you don't, the New Contract that was imposed on the Dental Profession in April 2006 is a completely untested system, designed to take NHS dentistry back to the 1950s when extractions and dentures were all you could expect. Readers of my other posts will have a clear idea of my thoughts on this contract - or ConTrick as it's called in the profession! There are many systems that could use the existing funding more fairly and equitably so that everybody could get something from NHS dentistry, but pay for the more advanced treatments as 'extras' over and above a basic state provision. A colleague of mine has set up an ePetition on the 10 Downing Sreet web-site. God knows how much notice will be taken of it, but the petition calls for the current NHS contract to be scrapped. I would be grateful if as many MSErs as possible could visit this site and leave their details. PETITION http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/nhsdentistry/ Thank you

I'll checkout the peition but did notice that when I had my last annual check-up and just needed a clean, it cost me rather more than previously and I seemed to be paying a private rate. My dentist tried to explain the new dentistry contract to me but it was too confusing, apart from the fact that you seem to pay more for getting less.
